    This invention presents a 3D imaging system which uses current available position tracking hardware to track the position and orientation of 2D ultrasound probe. It reconstruct 3D medical visualization by combining and aligning the captured image based on the images’ position and orientation and displays the result as 3D ultrasound volume

Project Overview
The technology is developed to meet the following:-
  • Ultrasound system is very important in patient treatment guidelines. Most of patient that require in depth scanning will be admitted to ultrasound scanning process.
  • 3D ultrasound system is very expensive for everyone use especially in rural areas of 2nd and 3rd world countries (i.e., ASEAN countries)
  • Fees of 3D ultrasound scanning is higher compared to conventional 2D ultrasound scan.
  • Method of 3D ultrasound scanning is very tedious.
  • Most of clinic at rural area do not have budget to replace current 2D ultrasound system.
  • Complex 3D ultrasound probe usually do not compatible with lower end 2D ultrasound system.

The features of the technology are:-
  • Use current available position tracking hardware to track the position and orientation of 2D ultrasound probe.
  • Store the capture image frames as well as its position and orientation in a workstation.
  • Reconstruct 3D medical visualization by combining and aligning the captured image based on the images’ position and orientation.
  • Display the result as 3D ultrasound volume.
